The design team reviewed roof edges, wall finishes, sill projections, external ground levels and drainage before finalizing the product schedule. Each elevation was treated according to its exposure instead of assuming one threshold and sealant detail would suit the entire house.
The Household Brief
The family needed ventilation during light rain, a sheltered everyday entrance and windows that could be inspected and maintained from normal access positions. They also wanted a broad garden view in the family room without an unnecessarily complex opening system.
The opening schedule recorded product type, glass, finish, hardware, sill, flashing concept and interior and exterior making-good for every location.

On Site: Working Under Temporary Weather Protection
Temporary covers allowed installers to work on prepared openings without trapping active rainwater in the junction. Sill support and flashing were inspected before the frames were fully sealed, and the entrance was checked against the external drainage channel.
The crew documented hidden layers with photographs. This record supported handover and gave the household a reference for future maintenance without claiming performance beyond the exact specified products and details.

The Lived-In Result
The finished elevations are visually consistent, but the details are not identical. More exposed openings use the sill and perimeter strategy selected for their location, while sheltered wet-room windows use compact top-hung units.
The family-room glazing provides a broad view without removing every operable section or overcomplicating daily cleaning. The entrance canopy and drainage work with the door instead of expecting the leaf to resist every condition alone.
Why This Custom Plan Worked
Water management was designed before frames arrived. External ground, wall, sill and roof protection were treated as part of the opening rather than separate trades.
The team also kept hidden-work records. In a whole-house project, photographs of support, flashing and seals can be as valuable as the final appearance when future maintenance is required.
